THE WORLD'S MOST EXPENSIVE CLOTHES' HANGER
By Melanie Mendelson, Copyright (c) 2003

I often get e-mails from people asking what exercise machine they need to buy in order to start exercising. My answer to this is that no machine can magically make you exercise.

Some people exercise without any machines or equipment. Some people buy a machine, and use it for their workouts. But a huge number of people buy those expensive machines and end up using them as clothes' hangers!

The people who only use their exercise machines to hang their clothes usually feel guilty about not using them for their true purpose. But despite the guilt, most often they can't overcome their laziness. So the machine just ends up sitting there, taking up space and gathering dust. The owners don't get rid of it for a while, naively hoping that one day they will use it.

Then finally one day this machine is sold at a garage sale for a bargain price... and the new happy owner takes it away... The new owner uses it a few times, and then starts piling clothes on it. And the cycle continues.

Does it sound familiar?

So why do people do that? The answer is that they use the lack of an exercise machine to justify why they don't exercise. They think there is an external solution (exercise machine) to their internal problem (too lazy to exercise). After the machine is bought, the internal problem remains. A person who did not want to exercise without a machine is just as unlikely to exercise with a machine.

To avoid the waste of your money and the guilt trip, do the following:

* BEFORE you respond to that TV ad pitching the machine for the entire 30 minutes

* BEFORE you make that trip to the local sports store and listen to the salesman's lecture

* BEFORE you spend hours on the internet searching for exercise equipment reviews and opinions

.....ask yourself - will you REALLY use the machine on a regular basis?

Be honest with yourself, and you will save a lot of money, hassles and disappointment.

If you decide against buying an exercise machine, that certainly does not mean that you cannot start exercising right now. There are plenty of ways to exercise without any equipment. Some activities you can do are walking, jogging, rope jumping, stair climbing, dancing, free weights, pushups, situps and more.

Once you become more active and start exercising on a regular basis, you will have a more objective view on what kind of additional equipment you need. At this point, you will know exactly what machine to buy to bring your exercise program to a new level.

HUNGER AND WEIGHT LOSS
By Melanie Mendelson, Copyright (c) 2003

Many people associate weight loss with being hungry all the time. They're afraid to start a weight loss plan because they want to avoid the frustrations of hunger.

And yes, a lot of times for many people it's better to be overweight than to starve. I'm no exception. I really like to eat, so there's no way I would be constantly hungry for the sake being thin. What kind of life is it if you're always feeling hungry?

Our natural instinct tells us to eat when we are hungry. Hunger is a signal telling the body that it needs to eat. It is also a signal to the body that it is in danger, that it needs food now. Our self-preservation instinct makes us scarf down everything in sight in response to feelings of starvation.

Our body doesn't care that we live in the modern world where food is plentiful. It acts the same as it would if we were living in a wild, having to hunt for our food. And it is not wise to go against the instinct that is designed to protect us from starvation death.

So, get ready for a surprise: you do not have to be hungry in order to lose weight. On the contrary, eating regular meals and keeping yourself full is what will actually help you stick to your healthy eating plan and reach your goals. Keeping your hunger in check will help you avoid overeating. It will also prevent you from feeling miserable, frustrated and out of control.

Try eating 5-6 small frequent meals as opposed to three large ones. If you wait too long for a meal, by the time the food comes, you will be starving and will not be able to control yourself. Eating smaller meals more often helps keep you full, and lets you be in control.

Never skip meals. Some people think that by skipping breakfast or lunch they will save total calories, but the opposite happens. Because they go for too long without food, they end up compensating for it and then some later in the day. In addition, skipping meals slows down your metabolism, because your body feels like it's not getting enough food. So it activates its survival instinct and burns fewer calories.

Another trick is to eat slower. It takes our body around 20 minutes to realize that it's full. If you eat too fast, you will eat unnecessary calories while your body is determining whether it is still hungry. By the time it realizes that it's full, it is too late, since you've already eaten more than you needed. If you eat slowly, your brain will start sending signals to stop eating just in time.

So don't starve yourself in pursuit of weight loss. There's absolutely no need for it. Get used to the idea that losing weight does not require being hungry.

Losing weight in a healthy way does not involve starving or deprivation. That's why it is permanent -- if you lose weight in a healthy way, you're likely to keep it off for good. The practical weight loss system shows you how to do just that. Click the link below to get started now:

NO FREE LUNCH
By Melanie Mendelson, Copyright (c) 2003

It is a human nature to want to get things done quickly. The
marketing industry is quite aware of this principle, and it
knows exactly how to appeal to your sense of impatience.

-"Get rich quick!"
-"Earn a Bachelor's degree in 2 months!"
-"Drop 30 pounds in 30 days!"

Do these ring a bell?

We all desire instant gratification. There is nothing wrong
with wanting it. In fact, I don't think there is anyone out
there (myself included) who would not want to get rich with
no work, earn a diploma with no studying, or lose weight
with no effort.

But you should know better... "There is no such thing is a
free lunch"!

People who fall for the quick-rich schemes end up wasting
their money - did they really think they can get rich
stuffing envelopes? The mail-order diploma ends up doing
more harm then good on a resume - did people really think
they'd impress a potential employer with a degree from the
"university" that advertizes via junk e-mail?

Same goes for a quick weight loss. There is no shortcut.
There is no miracle potion or magic pill. If there was a
fast and easy way to lose weight, then everybody would be
slim!

You did not gain all this weight overnight, so you can't
expect to lose it fast either. Weight loss takes
commitment, patience and determination. Losing weight in a
healthy way is a gradual process, no more then 1 to 2 lbs a
week. And you can keep this weight off only if you make
permanent changes to your lifestyle.

Whenever people hear that the healthy rate of weight loss is
no more then 1 to 2 pounds a week, they often get really
discouraged. They say they can't wait for so long to lose
weight. They want to get rid of this excess fat NOW!

As a result, these people don't even try to lose weight in a
healthy way, and don't lose weight at all. They can't lose
weight quickly because it simply does not work, and they
don't lose weight slowly because they did not even try.

So they stay overweight after 6 months, a year, and many
more years. During all this time, they could have lost
weight in a healthy way many times over.

Even though 1 to 2 pounds a week seems slow, it really adds
up. Do the math! 2 lbs a week add up to 50 lbs in 6
months. 1 lb a week equals 25 lbs in 6 months. Now think
about how much it adds up to in a year!

If you lose even 1 pound a month, in a year you would be 12
pounds lighter. Wouldn't you rather weigh 12 pounds less
then you do now?

The bottom line is that all this time you are wasting on
chasing the "quick fix", you could be using to lose weight
in a healthy permanent way. "Slow and steady wins the race"
applies perfectly to weight loss.

There is no reason to wait. Get started losing weight the
right way today!

My Practical Weight Loss system takes you by the hand and
shows you step-by-step how to lose weight. It will tell you
what exactly you need to do to lose weight in a healthy
permanent way and keep it off forever.
